Hazel A. Steinhoff

Hazel A. Steinhoff, 91, of Platteville, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Southwest Health Center in Platteville, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville. Burial will be at Belmont Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Pedersen will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 until the time of service on Monday at the church. Hazel was born on May 18, 1920, the daughter of George and Margaret (Schulte) Cullen in Smelser Township. She was united in marriage to Guerdon Steinhoff on November 9, 1943 at Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2009. Guerdon and Hazel farmed their entire lives near Rewey, retiring to Platteville in 1995.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce (James) Rash of Mineral Point; Judy Steinhoff of Platteville; two grandchildren, Joanne (Jesse) Rash of Verona; John (Laura) Rash of Elkhorn, WI; four great-grandchildren, Henry, Elliot, Rebecca, and Samantha; sister, Pearl Schult of Belmont; sister-in-law, Charlotte Cullen of Platteville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guerdon; four brothers, Leo, Otto, Carl, and Everett; and three sisters, Mary, Evelyn, and Berniece.
