He was born on Dec. 24, 1930, in Madison, the son of Rudolph and Adeline (Wollin) Hermsdorf. Harvey attended country schools in Deerfield and worked on area farms and for Garver Feeds. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Harvey married Patricia Beck on Sept. 8, 1951. God was very important in his life. A very talented and diverse individual, he also enjoyed building things, working in the garden, having lots of bird feeders to feed the birds and was able to complete any other projects that needed to be done. Harvey was a gentle, loving man who would do anything for anyone. He led by example in his strong work ethic, long hours and dedication. Whoever and whatever needed to be watched, Harvey was your man, he loved to babysit both children and dogs. Most importantly, however, was his wife, Patricia, whom he dearly loved and missed.
