Harbor Freight recalls more than 1 million chain saws

Harbor Freight Tools announced a recall of two chain saw models that are sold under three different brand names, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced.

The Portland, One Stop Gardens and Chicago Electric 14-inch electric chain saws have a power switch that can malfunction and can continue to operate after being put in the “off” position.

The Chicago Electric chain saws are red and black with model numbers 67255 or 61592.

The One Stop Gardens and Portland chain saws are green and black with model numbers 67255 or 61592.

Harbor Freight Tools has received 15 reports of switch malfunctions resulting in three laceration injuries. One injury required stitches, the press release said.

The chain saws were sold through the retailer’s website and at stores nationwide from May 2009 through February 2018 for about $50.

Consumers should stop using these chain saws and return them to a Harbor Freight Tools store for a free replacement. Replacement units will be available starting on May 21, 2018.
