Happ works out for the Hornets, eyes the draft

NBA draft: June 20th

Former Wisconsin forward Ethan Happ is still considered to be on the outside looking in when it comes to the NBA draft. Despite scoring more than 2,000 points and grabbing more than 1,000 rebounds in college, Happ still has to prove to pro scouts that he can play at the next level.

The Milan, IL native was one of several former college players who worked out for the Charlotte Hornets this weekend. Happ said he liked the energy that the coaching staff brought to the workouts, and he feels better about the draft process than he did after his junior season.

“I think last year, testing the waters definitely helped prepare me for these workouts,” UW’s all-time leading rebounder said. “In these workouts, a lot of coaches look to see who’s playing really hard. I was picking and popping, knocking down threes more. I was trying to show them that I could knock down open jump shots as well.”

Former Buffalo guard C.J. Massinburg and Nebraska forward Isaiah Roby were among the players who tried to impress the Charlotte brass.

The 2019 NBA draft is June 20 in Brooklyn, NY.
