Gun taken during apartment burglary

A handgun was taken during the burglary of a downtown apartment, according to a release from Madison police.

A 29-year-old South Bassett Street resident told police he returned to the apartment early Thursday morning to find his apartment burglarized and a 9mm handgun missing.

Police said the burglar broke a ground floor window to get in the apartment.
