MIDDLETON – Gregory J. Foss, age 79, of Middleton, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1941, in Madison, the son of Herbert and Dorothy (Roth) Foss.

After joining the U.S. Army, and then graduating from Middleton High School (with diploma), Greg served three years with 2 1/2 overseas while the Berlin Wall Crisis was going on.

Upon returning a year later, he went into the construction business with Fred Breunig as Foss and Breunig Builders. Then in 1971, Greg went on his own as Foss Building. Greg also served on the Middleton City Council for four years from 1972 – 1976. Middleton is still the best city in Wisconsin.

In his career as a builder, he was responsible for over 200 + residences and many commercial buildings in the area, and remodeling projects.

On Sept. 17, 1966, he married Patricia Slinde and together they had two children, a son, Christopher and a daughter, Jennifer. They were blessed with four grandchildren, Abby and Hannah Foss and Colton and Cason Whitmore, along with their spouses Anna Mae and Jeffrey Whitmore.

Greg was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Middleton Optimist Club, VFW No. 8216, and one of the founding members of the Middleton JC’s. He was a proud supporter of the Middleton Home Talent Baseball Team.

Gregory is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Chris (Anna Mae) Foss; daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Whitmore; grandchildren, Abagail Foss, Hannah Foss, Colton Whitmore and Cason Whitmore; great-grandchild, Henry Kok; sister, Theresa Foss; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cecilia (Jack) Haug; and brother, Herbert Foss.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave, Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday May 26, 2021, with Father Brian Wilk presiding. Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Wednesday.

Greg enjoyed the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. Along with smelt fishing up north, and wintering in the south in Florida. It’s been a good life, good wife and children and friends – thank you all. – Gregory J. Foss
