Green Alerts bill could help at-risk veterans

MADISON, Wis. — Lawmakers are drafting a bill requiring missing at-risk veterans to be critically missing persons immediately after police are notified, according to a story from TMJ4 .
The bill, called the Corey Adams Searchlight Act, is named after a Milwaukee veteran who went missing earlier this year and was eventually found dead. Although Adams’ family filed a missing person’s report for Adams, it took eight days for him to meet critical missing by Milwaukee police, TMJ4 reported.
Adams was a veteran diagnosed with PTSD and bipolar disorder. His body was found in a Milwaukee pond after 18 days. To honor his life the family and lawmakers are drafting this bill, TMJ4 reported.
The bill is co-authored by state Sen. LaTonya Johnson, TMJ4 reported.
