Grant Roy Smith

MIDDLETON-Grant Roy Smith, age 66, of Middleton, passed away after a long illness with cancer on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at UW Hospital.

He was born on April 12, 1946, in Madison, the son of Harmon and Verna (Wentworth) Smith. He married Diane Stack on June 17, 1975, in Aurora, Ill. He was a graduate of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Grant then served in the U.S. Army for two years. After he was honorably discharged, he began a long career of commercial truck sales and sold International Harvester, Mack and Ford trucks for many years. He was a longtime member of the Middleton Lions Club. Grant became an avid golfer because of his wife, Diane. He was a “die hard” cubs fan, and enjoyed fishing and listening to music.

Grant is survived by his wife of 36 years, Diane; daughters, Kristine (Christian) Steele and Cheryl Smith; grandchildren, Jacob, Shayla, Shalome, Ariel, Jonah, Jonathan, and Asa; brother, Craig; and sister, Lynn (Gordon) Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant grandson, Emanuel.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Avenue, Middleton, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
