Governor Faces Protests At Sturtevant Groundbreaking

Demonstrators chanted “Recall Walker” during an appearance by Gov. Scott Walker at a Sturtevant company on Tuesday.

The chants could be heard as Walker and Ruud Lighting executives broke ground for a 208,000-square-foot expansion. The LED lighting manufacturer plans to add about 470 full-time jobs over the next five years in Sturtevant to meet demand.

Community for Change organizer Kelly Gallaher told The Journal Times the groundbreaking is a good place to get signatures for the recall.

Events are scheduled around the state Tuesday as organizers begin collecting more than 540,000 signatures required for a recall election next year.
