Gordon Charles Ginther

Gordon Ginther, age 91 of rural Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Saturday, June 30, 2012 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Briggsville, Wisconsin with Father James Murphy officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home in Wisconsin Dells on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 5 to 7 P.M. with the rosary recited at 6:30 P.M. and on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Briggsville from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Gordon was born April 11, 1921 at the very place where he passed away, the son of Carl and Mary (Dushek) Ginther. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School and attended UW-Madison taking agriculture short courses. In May of 1948 he married Leona Ebert in Briggsville and together they farmed near Big Spring. In his life were three most important things. Father, family and friend. He was the father of three wonderful children. He was the head of the family being a devoted husband and endearing father and grandfather. And lastly, he was a friend. Being a farmer all of his life he respected those he knew and he was sincerely respected in return.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Leona; a son, Francis G. Ginther of River Falls, Wisconsin; daughters, Marcia Ginther-Roelke of Wisconsin Dells and Linda (Steven) Uphoff of Chesterfield, Virginia; a brother, Joe (Ginni) Ginther of Weyauwega, Wisconsin; a sister, Ellen Allen of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; 8 grandchildren and 12 ½ great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marion Smith and Fran Hidelgo.
