“Golfing in pink” in Portage

Middleton, Cleary lead WIAA golf regional

For the fifth straight year, the Waunakee and Portage girls golf teams opened their season “Golfing in Pink” to help raise money and awareness against breast cancer.

“I think it’s awesome that two teams can play against each other but play for the same cause golf is a sport that many people of our community enjoy together and being able to enjoy this with other women makes me feel great, “said Portage golfer Jayde Curley. “People of my own community can get the help that they need and our community can be healither.”

The event benefits Pink Ribbon Angles – an organization that helps residents of Columbia County.

Including a post-match dinner, they raised a record $1,050.

In the nine-hole dual meet, Waunakee and Portage tied with identical team scores of 196. Individually, Curley and Waunakee’s Sarah Pophal had the lowest scores of the day with 43.
