Glenn Bjornstad

Glenn “Swede” Bjornstad, age 78, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. He was born in Vernon County on Dec. 26, 1933, the son of Joslyn and Hazel Bjornstad. He married his high school sweet heart, Bonnie DeWitt in Westby on Feb. 27, 1954. Glenn had been a Janesville resident since 1954, and was employed by General Motors for 35 years. He was a member of the UAW Local 95, Faith Lutheran Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He loved to read, mow, rototill and his trailer at Snuffy’s Campground, in Sauk City. Swede was very proud of his Norwegian heritage.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bonnie Bjornstad of Janesville; 3 children: Deanna (Wayne) Parker, Gary (Paula Butler) Bjornstad and Patti Jo (Jerry) Bakke all of Janesville; 7 grandchildren: Jennifer (Greg) Faulkner, Tami (Bryce) Johnson, Tara Bjornstad, Tod Grady, Matthew Bjornstad, Amelia Bakke and Lydia Bakke all of Janesville; 2 step grandchildren, Michelle Ramos of Milton and Melissa Parker of Janesville; 7 great granddaughters; a sister, Lorraine (Harold) Johnson of Westby; his favoritve sister-in-law, Pauline DeWitt of Janesville; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends, especially, Sandy Bjornstad. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH with Pastor Anne Andert officiating. Entombment will be in Milton Lawns Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. In Lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund.
