Girl, 13, charged in fatal Milwaukee hit-and-run

Charges allege the girl was drag racing a stolen car

Prosecutors have charged a 13-year-old girl in a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in Milwaukee earlier this month.

The girl faces four felony counts in the death of 57-year-old Ronald Forbes, including first-degree reckless homicide.

Charges allege the girl was drag racing a stolen car against teens in a second stolen vehicle when she struck Forbes as he bicycled to work.

The girl told police she did not see Forbes.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the girl is charged as an adult, but could seek a waiver of her case to children’s court.

The girl was ordered to undergo a psychological examination after her attorney raised the question of her competency. Her next court date is Sept. 7 in children’s court.
