Gigi’s Playhouse is trying to get 1 million people to do one simple thing this weekend: Will you join?
MONONA, Wis. — Families who have children living with special needs are especially relieved life is slowly returning to normal. This weekend, they’re asking you to help them celebrate.
On Saturday, June 5, Gigi’s Playhouse is leading the GiGiFIT Acceptance Challenge, both in-person at Monona’s Ahuska Park and virtually. The goal is to get 1 million people nationwide moving and talking about Gigi’s Playhouse’s purpose. Organizers say it’s a ‘physical and social MOVEment for acceptance.’
If you live in the Madison area, you can participate in the in-person event from 10-11:30 a.m. at Ahuska Park, 400 East Broadway, Monona.
If you’d rather participate virtually, you can share how you’re moving your body this weekend on social media and tag Gigi’s Playhouse.
You can also consider donating to help the non-profit continue to make a difference in the lives of people living with disabilities.
The pandemic has been disproportionately challenging for many of these families. Children and adults who live with autism often struggle to read faces when others are wearing masks. Those who thrive on routines are still facing a lot of change and uncertainty.
Gigi’s Playhouse has one mission: to change the way the world views Down syndrome.
