Get ready to run for public office with city workshops

Next week, the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Sun Prairie City Clerk’s Office, is presenting a workshop on “How to Run for Public Office.” And it struck us as just such a great idea we thought we’d challenge other municipalities to do the same thing. Sun Prairie’s workshop on Thursday is everything you need to know, including the process step by step, paperwork required, things you should think about like time commitment and other challenges. The morning session will also offer input from office holders.

There are other resources for folks thinking about running for office.

The League of Women Voters comes instantly to mind. But at a time when elected officials themselves seem to want to discourage people from considering public office we applaud the Sun Prairie Chamber and clerk’s office for offering this valuable service.
