Geraldine (Melby) Leverentz
Madison- Geraldine (Melby) Leverentz, age 93, of Madison, died on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.
She was born November 11, 1923, to Oscar and Bergina (Lee) Melby in Melvina, WI. She was baptized and confirmed by Reverend Alfred Nelson at the Portland Lutheran Church in Portland, WI. Geraldine graduated from Sparta High School in 1941 and attended Milwaukee State Teachers College where she graduated in 1944. She was employed as a secretary by National Biscuit Company in Milwaukee and by Electrical Information Publications, Inc. in Madison.
On December 29, 1951 she married Frank R. Leverentz at Bethel Lutheran Church. They were members of Lakeview Lutheran Church since 1957, during which time she taught Sunday school classes, sang in the choir, taught the Bethel Series and was a member of the Lydia Circle.
Geraldine is survived by her two daughters, Caryl Chmielewski of Franklin, WI and Linda (Keith) Kading of Mazomanie, WI; six grandchildren, Bryan Chmielewski of West Allis, Chantel Chmielewski of Sun Prairie, WI, Brad (Courtney) Chmielewski and their children, Justin, Emma and Lucas of Menomonee Falls, Christy Chmielewski of West Allis, Tara Kading Olson (Jeff Olson) of Cottage Grove and Rachel Kading of Normal, Il.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank; son, Paul; eleven sisters and one brother.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at LAKEVIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4001 Mandrake Road, Madison with Rev. Dean Kirst presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lakeview Lutheran Church.
