Gerald Louis Polkinghorn
MADISON – Gerald L. Polkinghorn, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, at SSM Health-St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on Oct. 30, 1933, in Madison, the son of Wilfred Polkinghorn and Marion Heise. Jerry married Betty Polkinghorn in June of 1959.
Jerry worked as a meat grinder for Oscar Mayer. Jerry and Betty liked going to country music shows in Branson, Mo., and other places. Jerry enjoyed watching and feeding birds and being outdoors. He was a handyman with a great sense of humor. Spending time with his family was very important to him.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Nancy Sue Franke; three grandchildren, Austin Sorum, Brian Hamilton and Kyle Fracaro; and sister, Lorraine Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Polkinghorn; and two sons, Lonnie and Dale Polkinghorn.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at NEW LIFE CHURCH, 7564 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday Sept. 14, 2022.
