Gary Ryan Crawford
Gary Ryan Crawford, age 57, passed away suddenly at University Hospital in Madison on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022. He was born Oct. 3, 1965, in Elgin, Il to Frederick “Bud” Dauel and Sandie (Ryan) Crawford.
Gary was united in marriage to Sheri Schmidt at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Madison, July 29, 1995. They eventually made their home in the West Point Township where they have lived for the last 10 years. Gary started working in the family trade, starting at Crawford Automotive in Elgin and eventually moved on to the greater Madison area automotive dealerships and currently was employed at Don’s Marine in Lodi.
Gary loved to socialize and could strike up a conversation and find something in common with just about anyone. He was always ready with his quick wit, pranks and jokes and loved to get a scream out of his closest friends and family. He and Sheri could often be found boating on Lake Wisconsin in the summer time, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle or planning the next trip to the family cabin in Minnesota.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sheri; daughter, Brittany (Chad Wilhelm) Schmidt; son, Ryan Skinnemoen; grandchildren, Masen, Benjamin, Jacob, and Caylee; his mom, Sandie (Jerry) Crawford; 2 brothers, Mike (Becky) Crawford and Scott (Jennifer) Dauel. Gary is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his dad, Bud Dauel.
As per Gary’s wishes, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Gary’s family would like to thank the University Hospital staff and to all the friends and family that have reached out with their offers to help, their thoughts, prayers and well wishes.
