Game on: UW-Madison and University of Michigan gardens make wager on football game

Two university gardens are squaring off in anticipation for the UW-Madison vs. University of Michigan football game on Saturday.

In a Facebook post, Allen Centennial Garden, a botanical garden on the UW-Madison campus, made a bet with the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum at the University of Michigan about which university’s football team will win the game. According to the post, if the Wisconsin Badgers win, Matthaei-Nichols will display a plastic pink flamingo in its garden. If the Michigan Wolverines win, Allen Centennial Garden will display a white-tailed deer lawn ornament in its garden.

The two football teams kick off at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

GAME ON! This Saturday the Badgers take on the Michigan Wolverines at Camp Randall. To make things a little more interesting we bet University of Michigan’s campus Garden, the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum, that the Badgers would take home the win.

If the Badgers win (which we know they will) Matthaei-Nichols will proudly display a Pink Plastic Flamingo (Madison’s official bird). If Michigan takes home the W, Allen Centennial Garden must showcase a White Tailed Deer (Michigan’s state animal) lawn ornament. Who’s ready for a Garden throwdown?
