Frederic R. “Fred” Salzwedel

Frederic R. “Fred” Salzwedel, age 89, of Madison, crossed over to the other side on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at home with his loving wife, Ann, at his side. He was born on Oct. 12, 1927, in Columbus. Fred was a confirmed bachelor until he met Ann Bishop. They were married on Dec. 21, 1979, in Madison. Ann was the love of his life and soul mate. Together they cherished 37 years full of love, devotion and many, many warm memories. Fred proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a lineman and later retired as supervisor of Electric Operations for Madison Gas and Electric Company in 1989. Fred will always be remembered for his kindness, patience, sense of humor, creativity and love of nature. Forever the optimist, he always counted his blessings and not his problems. He was much loved and will be dearly missed by his family. In keeping with Fred’s wishes, there will be no funeral or services. In honor of Fred’s memory, he wished you would all plant a tree or feed the birds. Donations to the Arbor Day Foundation or the Madison Audubon Society would be greatly appreciated. “Death holds no power over love. For this reason, we can never lose our loved one.” “Bodily gone, but forever in our hearts.” Gunderson East Funeral & Cremation Care 5203 Monona Drive 608-221-5420
