Francis A. Hibner

MILWAUKEE/MADISON-Francis A. Hibner, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.
He was born on April 20, 1923, in Portage, the son of Francis D. and Elodia (Sigurson) Hibner. Fran and his parents moved to Milwaukee when he was a young child. Following his high school graduation, he worked for Royal Theatre.
Fran enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served during World War II. Following the war, he came back to Milwaukee and worked for Pabst and Blatz Breweries. Realizing his true calling, Fran began a 25 year career with the City of Milwaukee as a police officer, retiring in 1979. He was a faithful member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in West Allis.
Fran enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, trips to Las Vegas, and spending time with family.
Fran is survived by his loving family and friends, who have always been there with their love and support. We will miss Fran’s positive attitude and gentle way. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. A private entombment will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Agrace HospiceCare. Fran’s family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale West for their kind and compassionate care for him over the past four years.
