Frances K. Romano

BLACK RIVER FALLS/MADISON-Frances K. Romano, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Black River Falls. She was born on Nov. 19, 1920, the daughter of George and Rose (Miller) Karls.
She spent her childhood on the family farm in Dane. Frances worked for Celon Company prior to her marriage to Sam J. Romano on July 18, 1945, in Madison at St. James Catholic Church. She loved to spend time with her family and her sisters and brothers. She was a homemaker while her children were growing up and always had hot chocolate chip cookies waiting for them after school.
Frances is survived by her children, Chuck (fiancé, Ruth Ballweg) Romano of Waunakee, Rose (Pete) Segerson of Black River Falls, and Jeff (Deanne Williams) Romano of Madison; grandchildren, Brian Romano, Kristi Romano, Robin (Scott) Syrjala, Tony Romano, and Erika Segerson; great-granddaughter, Haley Romano; siblings, Alice Varese, Katie Wiese, Molly Kimberley, Betty Williams, and George Karls; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Edward and Harry Karls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
