Former village president found guilty in sexual assault case

Lyndon Station’s former village president was found guilty of 22 felony charges related to accusations that he and his brother repeatedly sexual assaulted children as far back as 1989.
Donald Coughlin, 53, was charged in 2010 with 22 counts including first-degree sexual assault of a child, second-degree sexual assault of a child, repeated sexual assault of the same child and child enticement. His 47-year-old brother, Daniel Coughlin, is still facing five charges from 2011, including first-degree sexual assault of a child and second-degree sexual assault of a child.
A criminal complaint stated accused Donald Coughlin of having sexual contact with five different people going back to the fall of 1989. Daniel is accused of having sex with a juvenile at his farm in 1990.
Sentencing for Donald Coughlin is scheduled for Oct .2. A jury trial for Daniel Coughlin is scheduled for December.
