Former Verona substitute teacher who pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges sentenced to probation
VERONA, Wis. — A former Verona substitute teacher was sentenced Friday to two years of probation after pleading guilty to multiple charges after he inappropriately touched a 13-year-old student in 2020.
Dustin Schallert, 32, was arrested in March 2020 after a female student at Badger Ridge Middle School said he played with her hair, put his hand on her chest and reached under her shirt. The student immediately reported the incident, and Schallert was removed from the school minutes later.
In March, Schallert pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct, causing mental harm to a child and fourth-degree sexual assault as part of a plea deal. Charges of first-degree and second-degree sexual assault were dropped.
Schallert will also be required to surrender his teaching license and will not be able to teach again, online court records show.
