Former Madison radio personality pleads guilty to child porn possession, sentenced to 3 years in prison
MADISON, Wis. — A former Madison radio personality arrested last year was sentenced Monday to three years in prison for child pornography possession.
Matthew Bradshaw Jones, 42, who went by the name Jackson Jones while working for Madison country music radio station Q106, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography during a court appearance Monday afternoon. Judge Ellen Berz also sentenced him to three years of extended supervision following his prison term.
Jones had faced ten felony counts of possession of child pornography. The remaining nine counts were dismissed but read in during sentencing.
Police arrested Jones at his home on Mount Horeb in February 2021.
According to a criminal complaint, Jones told detectives he went on websites Tumblr and Wickr for “sex chats and fantasies.” The complaint said he admitted to receiving nude images of underage girls from other Tumblr users, but Jones said he did not send any illegal images because he “never wanted to take that chance.”
In court Monday, an emotional Jones apologized for his actions and the pain he caused his loved ones.
“I do understand that saying sorry and taking responsibility does not fix what I did. I wish it did,” he said. “I can’t do anything about what happened before; what I can do is try my best to make an effort in my life moving forward to never let anyone down like this again and never let this happen and prove to people that I really am sorry and fully taking responsibility for the mistake that I made.”
