Former Badger gives boy a million-‘Watt’ surprise
J.J. Watt, now with the NFL's Texans, visits 12-year-old fan
Splendora, Texas — Cristian Beasley, 12, of Splendora, Texas, suffers from leukemia. Because of his illness, he attends school via a robot he controls with his computer at home.
He named the robot “Watt” after his favorite Texan, J.J. Watt.
The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year heard about Beasley and decided to pay the boy a visit.
Watt drove to Splendora and surprised the young fan at home. They played football outside and Watt even took the boy in to school so he could meet all the other kids. All in all, Watt spent about two hours with Beasley.
“When I heard the kid named his robot after me and was such a big fan, doing stuff like this is a no brainer,” Watt said.
Beasley couldn’t have been happier.
“He has a big heart for kids you know, who may not even have cancer. He just does,” Beasley said. “He’s a nice guy. And I can really tell.”
