Florence was born on August 4, 1933, the daughter of James and Leona (Speth) Tindell. Florence lived in Platteville growing up and then was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Udelhofen on July 15, 1952. Together they had three sons. During this time, Florence raised her kids and worked at the Hearthside-Gentleman’s Quarters and the Pool Hall. Florence and Bob also ran the Platteville Golf and Country Club together. Their youngest son joined the Navy so they then moved to Arizona to be closer to him. While in Arizona, she worked as a cashier at Yellow Front. After several years, there they decided to move to Newton Iowa to be closer to their second son and his new family. In Newton, Florence worked at Newton Manufacturing with her daughter-in-law, for seven years. Finally, she and Bob decided that they needed to move back home to the town they grew up in, so back to Platteville to live out the rest of their time. Florence worked a few jobs and ended up finally retiring from the Dollar Store on Main St.
Florence loved spending time with her siblings, fishing, golfing, and spending as much time as she could with her family. She also loved the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. She enjoyed a trip she took to Florida with two of her grandsons; she said it was the best vacation of her life. The family also took a vacation to Colorado to go fishing and she would always talk about how she out-fished her three sons. Florence was very active with the Platteville Country Club; where in her younger days, she was the Women’s Club Champion and also held a lot of course records. Her greatest joys in life, though, were her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved to talk about them and her face lit up whenever she spoke of them or got to see them; she was so proud of each one of them.
Florence is survived by two sons, Steve Udelhofen, and Rob (Ann) Udelhofen, both of Platteville; Steve’s children, Justin (Lindsay) Udelhofen and their children, Austin, Dylan, Destiny, and Bentley, of Roxsburg, WI; Steven (Emily) Udelhofen and their son, Steven James, of Sauk City, WI; Shannon (Kassidy) Udelhofen and their children, Landon, Aurora, and Kastiel, of Hazel Green; Rob’s children, Jesse Udelhofen and his children, Sophia and Sawyer of Platteville; Joshua Udelhofen of Florida; and Jamie Udelhofen of Platteville. She is also survived by grandson, Elliot (Ashley) Holzworth and their children, Finley, Aven, and Lincoln of Madison; two sisters, Alice (George) Williams and Patricia (Dick) McWilliams; brother, James (Sandra) Tindell; and many brothers and sisters-in-law and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert “Bob”; son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Tina; and sister, Joanne.
