Fitchburg student competes in National Spelling Bee finals

FITCHBURG, Wis. — A local fifth grader made it to the National Spelling Bee finals.
Maya Jadhav is 10 years old.
She attends EAGLE School in Fitchburg.
Maya is passionate about reducing waste and cleaning up garbage, according to a brief bio on the National Spelling Bee website. She was elected as a student council member in her school on a platform of reducing waste.
One of #Speller484 Maya Jean Jadhav’s claims to fame? She’s been to every continent but Antarctica. While she has a love for travel, her heart belongs to giving back. She helps encourage recycling at school and tends a community garden that provides for a food pantry.#spellingbee

Maya previously competed in the 2018 National Spelling Bee and tied for 42nd place.
This year she made it to the top 50, but got out on the word praseodymium.
It’s happening! Spellers are making their way to the stage for the start of the Finals at 10 a.m. Each of these spellers is already a champion, but who of them will bring home the Scripps Cup? Watch to find out! #spellingbee pic.twitter.com/hB2jJJOHgk
