Fitchburg police investigate shooting, close down part of Fish Hatchery Road

Fitchburg police are investigating a shooting Tuesday that left a portion of Fish Hatchery Road closed for a short time.

Around 11:30 a.m., police responded to a caller on the 2200 block of South Fish Hatchery Road claiming her husband had fired a gun inside of their home.

Police established a perimeter and closed Fish Hatchery Road near the incident while officers attempted to make contact with the man.

The man kicked out the front door of his home and went toward another building on the property using a baseball bat to break windows.

Officers took the man into custody due to his dangerous behavior and for refusing to comply with officers.

No one was injured during the incident but officers believe the man may have been attempting to be intentionally shot by a cop.
