Milwaukee man charged in stabbing deaths of mother, child

A smoldering log from a fire pit is believed to be the cause of a fire that damaged a Sun Prairie home late Saturday night, police said.

Sun Prairie emergency crews received a report of a structure fire around 11:35 p.m. at 1033 Ring St., according to a release. The fire reportedly started on the porch of the single-family home, and damaged one side of the house.

Residents and pets inside the home were able to get out of the home without being injured, officials said.

According to the release, the fire appears to have been accidentally started when a smoldering log from a fire pit was left near the porch.

Officials did not have an estimated cost of the damage.
