Fire displaces two on Madison’s west side
MADISON, Wis. — A house fire on Madison’s west side Thursday afternoon displaced two people, the city’s fire department said.
The fire broke out just before 12:50 p.m. at a home in the 4200 block of Doncaster Drive, the Madison Fire Department said in an incident report.
Contractors were working on the home’s exterior using a “heat-conducting device” when they found smoke coming from a nearby wall. They had a neighbor call 911, and firefighters arrived minutes later to find smoke coming from the home’s front porch and fire inside the home.
Firefighters put out the flames and confirmed no one was inside at the time.
The fire has been deemed accidental and was related to the construction work. No one was hurt.
A damage estimate was not available as of Thursday evening.
