Fire damages Beaver Dam home, cat killed

A fire that did $30,000 in damage to a home in Beaver Dam also killed a cat living in the home, according to a release from the Beaver Dam Fire Department.

Firefighters were called at 3:34 a.m. Tuesday to N5942 S. Center Road in the town of Beaver Dam on a report of a fire in the basement and possibly the kitchen.

The first crews on the scene found a fire in the basement of the two-story home. All occupants were out safe, thanks to smoke detectors, according to the release.

The cause of the fire is under routine investigation. Fire officials said firefighters were able to keep the fire from extending into other areas of the home. There was smoke damage to other areas of the home.

One cat died in the fire.

Beaver Dam firefighters were assisted on the scene by firefighters from Burnette, Horicon, Juneau and Lowell.
