BAGLEY, Wis. — Two members of a volunteer fire department in Grant County have been charged after being accused of embezzling funds.

According to Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman, a local bank told the sheriff’s office about suspicious activity on the Bagley Volunteer Fire Department’s accounts at the end of March.

As a result of an investigation and an audit of the accounts, BVFD Treasurer Jodi Moris, 57, of Mt. Hope, was charged with felony theft of more than $10,000 in a business setting.

BVFD Fire Chief Ryne Jackley, 31, of Bagley, was also charged with misdemeanor theft of fewer than $2,500 in a business setting.

Moris and Jackley are scheduled to make an initial appearance in Grant County Court on June 7.
