Feingold uses closed Janesville GM plant in latest ad

Wisconsin Senate debate discusses presidential support, paid family leave

Democrat Russ Feingold uses the closed General Motors plant in his hometown of Janesville as the backdrop of a new campaign ad in his race against Republican Sen. Ron Johnson.

Feingold released the new ad focused on the economy Thursday. It comes after Johnson on Wednesday released a spot accusing Feingold of being weak on national security.

The Feingold spot opens with a photo of his grandfather standing in front of a truck he bought from the GM plant in 1923. The plant closed in 2008.

Feingold calls for closing corporate loopholes and says the economy shouldn’t just work for CEOs.

Johnson’s first ad touted his background at the Oshkosh plastic company he helped start. He was chief executive officer there before defeating Feingold for the Senate in 2010.
