Fayetta “Faye” Springer

Fayetta “Faye” Springer of Platteville, WI, formerly of Boone and Ogden, Iowa, passed away on June 24, 2017 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, WI.

A memorial service and luncheon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Jeff Pedersen will officiate. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.

Faye was born in Amaqua Township in Boone County Iowa on March 3, 1928 to Edward and Lorine (Forster) Reimers. On October 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to Maurice Springer of Boone. The couple lived in Boone until moving to Platteville in 1966.

Faye belonged to the Lutheran Church of Peace and was a member of the Ruth Circle. She served as treasurer of the ELCA, Women of the Lutheran Church of Peace, the Trust Fund, Church Women United and the Hospital Auxiliary and Gift Shop. She also served as the church bookkeeper for 10 years. She was also active in the Wisconsin Women’s Bowling Association.

She is survived by one daughter, Diane Lowe, of Verona, WI; one granddaughter, Lindsey (Dan) Boehne and great granddaughters Lucy and Lily Boehne all of Bloomingdale, IL; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Reimers and Bonnie Ahrens of Ogden, IA; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, her parents and two brothers Robert and Ronald Reimers.

The family would like to recognize her special friends at Pioneer Ridge Apartments who were so kind and caring toward her, especially Joyce Cohen, Betty Bumgardner, Leona Huggins and Lorraine Riechers.

A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Agrace Hospice whose kindness, understanding and graciousness seemingly know no bounds. You were truly a blessing to Faye in her last days.
