A Texas family’s Christmas decorations caused some panic when they first went up.

The Heerlein family in Austin recently put up the display for a contest.

They bought a dummy online and position a ladder beneath it to look like it’s tipping over – a recreation of a scene from “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” where Clark Griswold hangs from the roof while putting up Christmas lights.

For some people, the Heerlein’s display looked a little too realistic, because the Heerleins said someone rushed in to help, thinking it was a real person.

The good Samaritan even called 911, along with about a dozen others.

The family has since added a sign at the bottom of the display to let people know it’s just a decoration.

For the man who rushed to help, the family said they’re giving him a $500 gift card to show their appreciation for his kind gesture.
