Everett J. Erlien

JANESVILLE— Everett J. Erlien, age 85, of Janesville, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Rock Haven.
He was born in Strum, WI, on Aug. 31, 1926, the son of Joseph and Ellen (Rostvold) Erlien and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Strum. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. A Janesville resident since 1956, Everett married Ione Berg on Aug. 9, 1966 in Janesville. He was employed by General Motors for 37 years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of UAW Local 95, and an active member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Fellowship Club and Bible Studies.
He is survived by his wife, Ione of Janesville; daughter, Mary Ellen (Brian) Fibiger of Aledo, TX; 2 granddaughters, Ainsley and Aubrey Fibiger; a sister, Helen Irwin of Chippewa Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Micah Fibiger; 4 brothers: Edwin, Palmer, Milton, and Harold Erlien; and 2 sisters, Melba Rostvold and Marion Winsnes.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012, at ST. PAUL’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH with Rev. Daniel Decker officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, Janesville.
Memorials are preferred to either St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s research.
