She was born the daughter of Wallace and Norma Jean Davis on July 25, 1929 in Canton, OH. She was a graduate of McKinley High School in Canton. Ethel was united in marriage to Elmer M. Montgomery on March 19, 1954 in Canton and they celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary earlier this year.

They moved to Glen Ellyn, IL in 1957 and she lovingly raised five children. Ethel served as the “Attendance Lady” at Glenbard South High School after all her children were in school. They moved to Burnsville, MN in the 80’s and retired to Byron, IL in 1995. They moved to Monroe in 2016. She was a longtime member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron and a member of St Johns UCC in Monroe. She loved camping with her family and made sure they all got to visit nearly every state in the union with their pop-up camper. Most of all, she just loved cooking meals for and being with her family.

Ethel is survived by her husband Elmer, her children, Terrie (Dennis) Hammer of Naperville, IL, Kim (Rick) Ramos of Southlake, TX, Kevin Montgomery of Montpelier, VA, Todd (Terri) Montgomery of Monroe, and Heather (Mark) Schmit of St Charles, IL. 11 grandchildren, Rachel (Derek) Bintz, Ryan (Bethany) Hammer, Evan (Sarah) Ramos, Blake (Christine) Ramos, Samantha (Tim) Lucas, Amanda (Mark) Fields, Tyler Ramos, Dominick (Katy) Schmit, Trevor (Amanda) Schmit, Alyssa (Kris) Eberle, Jesse Ramos, and 15 great-grandchildren, Logan, Sawyer, Joey, Lily, Eleni, Aletheia, Amelie, Gavin, Tommy, Martha, Avery, Emma, Clara, Mack and Millie as well as many extended relatives and dear friends.
