Emil Roy “Mike” Wenger

WILD ROSE/ LODI – Emil Roy “Mike” Wenger, age 83, of Wild Rose, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 11, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mike, son of Arnold and Bertha Wenger, was born on June 16, 1928. He married the love of his life, Norma Jean Buchanan, on Nov. 16, 1950. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Mike (Terri)Wenger of Sauk City, Ron (Patti)Wenger of Lodi, Judy (Ken)Denu of Mazomanie, Tammy (Bob)Alme of Lodi, and Cherie (Chis) Johnson; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; with two on the way.

In 1952 he was drafted and proudly served a combat tour in Korea with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Upon his return, Mike worked as a mechanic in Lodi and eventually became a dealer for JI Case. He and Norma were honored for becoming the fourth largest dealer in their North American operations. He joined Grabers in Middleton as a mechanic in 1974. Upon his retirement in 1991, Mike and Norma moved to Wild Rose and started Mike’s Crafts, further enriching family, friends, and customers with his uniquely hand crafted oak furniture. Mike and Norma were truly a love story for the ages. He loved his family and friends first and foremost. Generations of family members and friends have many fishing, snowmobiling, hunting stories, and he had a way of making fun of just being together.
Mike is survived by his wife, Norma of 62 years; his children; grandchildren; sisters, Jenny Radl and Mary Miller; and brothers, John and Jerry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Cherie; and his siblings, Arnold Jr., Rosie, Herman “Boots,” Margaret “Mitz,” and Alvin.

Funeral Services will be held at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 258 Lodi St., Lodi at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2012, with the Rev. Gretchen Lord Anderson presiding. Visitation will be held at the church, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
