Emergency management officials are holding a statewide tornado drill.

It will begin 1 p.m. Friday with a tornado watch being issued and then the warning will be issued at 1:45 p.m.

Wisconsin Emergency Management officials originally scheduled the statewide drill for Thursday but pushed it to Friday because of the threat of severe weather.

State officials said Friday’s tornado drill will go ahead as planned, since the National Weather Service says there is no threat of severe storms or tornadoes anywhere in Wisconsin on Friday.

Gov. Scott Walker has proclaimed this week as Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness week in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin averages 23 tornadoes annually. Last year, only four tornadoes were reported in Wisconsin. There were no fatalities or injuries.
