Elmer H. Thorson

Madison – Elmer H. Thorson, age 86, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017.

He was born May 23, 1931 in Oshkosh, WI, the son of Elmer M. and Jane E. Thorson. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1949 and spent 39 months in the Marine Corps, 13 months of those were spent in Korea. Elmer was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Rupple on June 26, 1954 in Appleton, WI. Elmer earned a Bachelor of Science degree at UW Oshkosh in 1961 and a Master’s of Science degree from UW Madison. Elmer worked at a large variety of jobs, including High School Teacher, High School Principal and District Administrator. After leaving the education field in 1979 he was a Business Manager, Comptroller and Executive Director.

Elmer is survived by his beloved children, Brian and Rebecca of Madison, WI, Lisa of Eagan, MN and Matthew of Burnett, WI; his beloved grandchildren Courtney and Wyatt Peterson; his brother Timothy (Lois) of Appleton; and numerous aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, who died on October 17, 1996.

A memorial service will be held with a date to be announced at South Medina Cemetery, Medina, WI.
