Elizabeth “Betty” (Bierd) Witek

Madison-Elizabeth J. “Betty” Witek, age 86, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Born Elizabeth Joann Bierd to Margaret (Sachs) and Victor Bierd on August 26, 1930. She graduated from West High School in 1948 and married Edward J. Witek on June 17, 1950. They had five children, Eddie, Denise, Joann, Liza Jo and Bill.
Betty was an artist, designer, seamstress and a professional photo-oil colorist. She painted for master-professional photographer C.R. Reierson, Baron’s, Kuntsman, Ford, Schultz, Handel, DeLong and several others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, John (Buster), Bill, Vickie and Bob; identical twin daughters, Denise and Joann, son Bill and husband, Ed.
Betty is survived by son, Eddie (Kim) and daughter, Liza (Mike) Durbin; grandchildren, Kyle (Megan), Denise, Michael, Billy, Jessie, M.J. and Zach; daughter-in-law, Dawn (Shawn McDonald); great-grandchildren, Henry, Charlie and Addelyn, and sister, Bev (John) Broome.
Betty and Ed were charter members of ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Dr, Madison, where A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on August 30, 2017 with Fr. Bart Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10am until the time of mass. Burial will follow the service at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
