Edwin ‘Ed’ Waldo Ewers

Edwin W. Ewers, age 80, of rural Richland Center, died at his residence on Thursday, January 24, 2013 following a struggle with leukemia. Ed was born in Richland County on June 4, 1932, the son of Alvin and Ada (Unbehaun) Ewers. He proudly served the United States in the Army infantry, and was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Ed was united in marriage with Arlene Flamme, and they farmed and raised their family together, celebrating 33 years until her death. He later married Marlys Anderson and they celebrated 27 years together in November 2012.
Ed was a country boy at heart. He loved and cared for the land continuously. Once he ‘retired’ from farming, he embarked on a 20 year business called ‘Ed’s Big Rolls’. This broadened his acquaintances and friendships even more, with contacts in at least 14 states. Community contacts and involvement were also acquired when he drove school bus and participated in the Ash Creek United Methodist Church activities. He also enjoyed being a member of the Backroad Express Riders, was named an Outstanding Young Farmer, and a member of the Richland Drifters Snowmobile Club. He and Marlys were fortunate to winter in Arizona for several years, and were members of the Family Motorcoach Association, Badger Chapter, where Ed was president for two years. His heart remained in Richland County and with his family.
