Edith V. “Edye” Tammi

Edith Vonnie “Edye” Tammi, age 75, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Four Winds Lodge in Verona. She was born in Sauk City on October 2, 1936, the daughter of the late Walter and Evelyn (Beckett) Dahnke. She graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1954. She was formerly united in marriage to Carl H. Tammi on December 17, 1955. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2003. Edye was an avid reader of romance novels, a skilled cake decorater, Green Bay Packer fan, a pianist, and enjoyed bowling. She was a member of Madison Packer Backers Club and St. James Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac. Edye was employed for many years as a phone operator and receptionist at Badger Army Ammunition Plant, WPS Insurance Company, and retired from the Bank of Prairie du Sac in 2002.

She is survived by three children, Sue (Frank) Hilscher of Verona, Steve (Maria) Tammi of Collierville, TN, and Shane (Michele) Tammi of Sauk City; seven grandchildren, Evan and Kellan Hilscher, Melissa, Caleb and Teresa Tammi, and Joshua and Shantele Tammi; a sister, Jean (Tom) Buege; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and former husband, she was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, John and Irma Zingg; a sister, Carol Lange; beloved aunt, Marie Peterson; and dear friend Marlene Schiffman.

A Funeral Service will be held at ST. JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH, Prairie du Sac, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012, with Pastor Bradley Pearson officiating. Burial will be in Kingston Cemetery, Merrimac. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday.
