Edgewood, LaFollette tie at Lussier
Crusaders, Lancers draw 1-1

MADISON — Edgewood and Madison LaFollette’s boys soccer teams opened their 2014 seasons with a 1-1 draw at Lussier Stadium Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first half, LaFollette took the lead in the 54th minute as James Bon scored to make it 1-0 Lancers.
Edgewood managed to score the equalizer in the 86th minute when Colin Cassidy beat Carlito Schiro for the only Crusader goal of the night.
New rules in the regular season for WIAA games have the teams play 45 minute halves instead of the 40 minute halves in the past, and if the teams are tied, there’s no overtime, so the match ends in a draw.
In WIAA tournament play, if the game in tied after regulation, they’ll play two full 10-minute periods, regardless of scoring. If the teams are still tied, they’ll go to a shootout.
