East Johnson Street lane closures expected to delay traffic

Crews will be closing several lanes of East Johnson Street over the next two weeks to install underground utilities, according to a release.

S&L Underground and MG&E will be closing lanes of East Johnson Street at the Pinckney Street intersection in order to install underground utilities associated with the North Pinckney Street reconstruction project, officials said.

May 18-May 22: One lane of traffic will be open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., two lanes will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
May 23-May 25: Two lanes of traffic will be open
May 26-May 29: One lane of traffic will be open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., two lanes of traffic will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday
May 30 – June 1: One lane of traffic will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. At 3 p.m., East Johnson Street will be open to three lanes of traffic

Traffic delays are expected throughout the day during the scheduled closures, according to the release.

Officials encouraged eastbound drivers to use an alternate route of West Johnson Street to Bassett Street, to West Washington Avenue to the outer loop to East Washington Avenue.
