More than 70 students from Madison East High School helped out at polling locations on Election Day.

Students from all Madison high schools signed up to work the polls, but East High School had the most students at 73.

“We have a very civically engaged student body, and when I tallied this morning and I counted how many we had, I was just incredibly proud of our students, because they’re getting to experience democracy in its purest form today,” East High School teacher Nick Adams said.

Teachers said many of the students worked 15-hour shifts Tuesday just to help out.
