Earl J. Horn

Earl J. Horn, age 88, of Fort Atkinson, died July 24, 2017 as a result of a number of long-term health conditions.

Earl was born November 19, 1928 and grew up on the family farm in Helenville, WI. Earl married Jean Hoppe on June 25, 1949, and they lived most of their lives in Fort Atkinson. Earl served in the Army in the Korean War and worked at Schweiger Industries until his retirement.

Earl enjoyed working on his cars and could build or fix just about anything. Earl’s daughter has happy memories of racing miniature cars with him on the track Earl built in his home workshop. Jean and Earl did nearly all of the work themselves on their home and yard.

Earl is survived by his wife, Jean and daughter, Sandee of Madison, as well as a number of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Clara Horn; both sisters, Evora Brunk and Elaine Strickland; nephew, Rick Brunk and several extended family members.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30th, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Dunlap Memorial Home, 604 South Main Street, Fort Atkinson. There will be no other services. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated, or a donation made to the charity of one’s choice.
