Dylan H. Dunnum

Dylan Heath Dunnum, infant son of Jamie (Howell) and Ryan Dunnum, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Dylan Heath Dunnum was born into his mother’s arms and his father’s heart on March 23, 2012 at 2:49 am. He weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. His brothers and sisters came by for a visit to see their new brother later that day and enjoyed a pizza party in his honor while they took turns holding him and kissing his soft forehead. No one knew that soon after our family’s lives would be forever changed.?At 6:40pm on the night of Dylan’s birth he stopped breathing and was rushed to the NICU where he was then stabilized for transport to the NICU in Rochester. Upon arrival it was determined that Dylan needed more help than the NICU could give and was then transported to another unit where an ECMO unit was placed. The ECMO is a machine that removes Dylan’s blood, oxygenates it and then returns it to his body so that his lungs get a rest.?It was later found that Dylan’s body had been ravaged by E. Coli that caused sepsis. Dylan was baptized on March 27, 2012 with Ryan and Amanda Howell as his Godparents.
In addition to his parents, Jamie and Ryan, Dylan is survived by four siblings: Katelyn, Riley, Maya and Sawyer; his maternal grandparents: Elaine and Larry Howell: paternal grandmother, Janet Dunnum; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Dunnum.
