Driver suspected of 5th OWI — Lawrence J. Woitkevich, 69, of Madison

DEFOREST, Wis. — A Madison man was charged with drunken driving for the fifth time early Saturday, officials said.

At approximately 12:15 a.m. a Dane County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw a vehicle being driven erratically in a roundabout at the intersection of Savannah Drive at Williamsburg Way in the village of DeForest.

The deputy stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, 69-year-old Lawrence J. Woitkevich, of Madison. The sheriff’s office said Woitkevich failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of fifth-offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a felony.

Woitkevich was taken to Dane County Jail.
